Documenting Use Cases For Computer Generated Actors

چکیده
In this paper, we discuss a solution to the problem of improving the design and documentation of computer-generated actor (CGA) systems by exploiting the Unified Modeling Language (UML) to document CGA requirements and uses. The paper contains a brief introduction to the UML and includes a description of its diagrams and documentation capabilities. We describe how the UML has been used to complement the High Level Architecture (HLA) documentation. We then discuss the aspects of the UML that should be exploited to achieve a better design and documentation capability for CGA requirements and illustrate this capability by documenting one use case for a nominal CGA. The paper concludes with a summary and with suggestions for further research.

A Design Methodology for Domain Independent Computer Generated Forces
The "synthetic battlespace", used by the military as a training arena, exhibits several deficiencies. These limit battlespace combatants from interacting in a realistic fashion. A promising method to correct these deficiencies is by using "intelligent" computer generated actors who display realistic behavior. This paper explores a generic architecture for these actors, and gives a design extend...
متن کاملConsiderations for the Next Generation of Air Force Computer Generated Actors
Attaining a realistic, high fidelity distributed virtual environment for next generation aircrew training requires that air operations, command and control, and logistics activities be correctly simulated for both the manned and computer-controlled actors. Computer-generated actors are especially important to the attainment of these next generation capabilities since they will be the opponents ...
متن کاملTechnology Review and Future Directions for Computer Generated Actors
The operation of high fidelity and reasonably priced computer-generated synthetic environments relies heavily upon computer-generated actors (CGAs). Unfortunately, the pace of technological development and the level of expected performance will almost certainly continue to rise at a much faster rate than improvements in CGA fidelity, reasoning, human behavior, and cognitive models and skills mo...
متن کاملSemi-Autonomous Animated Actors
This paper describes an interdisciplinary experiment in controlling semi-autonomous animated human forms with natural language input. These computer-generated characters resemble traditional stage actors, in that they are more autonomous than traditional hand-guided animated characters, and less autonomous than fully improvisational agents. We introduce the desktop tkeatev metaphor, reserving f...
متن کاملTwo Computer Systems in Victorian Schools and the Actors and Networks Involved in their Implementation and Use
As in Australia school education is the responsibility of State Governments, this article will consider two computer systems in the Australian State of Victoria. The article takes a socio-technical stance to examine two computer systems currently in use in schools in Victoria: CASES21 and the Ultranet. After describing these systems, the article makes use of actor-network theory to explore the ...
